For over 150 years, it was home to the King, the Royal Court, and the administrative seat of the government. Within its walls, you will also find other impressive buildings, including the Wat Phra Kaew that houses a famous and revered Emerald Buddha.

It is also known as the Temple of the Reclining Buddha and the birthplace of Thai massage. Aside from these, it is one of the largest and oldest wats (temple art and architecture) in Bangkok. You will find this amazing creation in the Rattanakosin District next to the Grand Palace.

This part of Thailand has a rich history that is shown through its shrines, temples, quaint cafes, and old shops that were beautifully preserved. If you make your way to Thalang Road, then you will find buildings, which are of Sino-Portuguese architecture. Then, there is also Soi Romano, which in old-fashioned Thai actually means 'naughty with the old ladies'. Well, you can pretty much guess what the place was previously used for, until it was renovated.
